‘Milestone achievement’: First Egyptian fish farmers awarded quality certifications

The first 50 Egyptian fish farmers have been certified as ‘quality producers’, after meeting a national set of best practice methods for farmed tilapia developed by WorldFish.

Research and training center supports growth of aquaculture in Africa

By 2025, African governments hope that 40 percent of the total fish consumed in Africa will be met by aquaculture. Ongoing research and training provided by the WorldFish-run Africa Aquaculture Research and Training Center in Egypt will be critical to achieving this goal.

Cairo’s chefs take to farmed tilapia

With the successful expansion of tilapia aquaculture in Egypt, improved farming and fish handling practices, and the high price of alternative protein sources, chefs in Cairo are starting to take more notice of locally-farmed tilapia.
